Richard P. Matthew, 39, completed his remarkable journey, peacefylly in his home on Wednesday, March 3, 2010.
His loving wife and mother were at his side. Husband of Rebecca (Wright) Matthew.
Born in Roxborough Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia on March 6, 1970, son of Margaret A. (Suchocki) and Ronald B. Matthew Sr.
Richard most recently resided in Plymouth Meeting, formerly of Blue Bell.
He was a devoted member of Epiphany of Our Lord RC Parish of Plymouth Meeting.
Richard graduated from St. Helena's Grade School and then from Lasalle College High School.
He received his nursing diploma from Roxborough Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and his Bachelors degree in the Science of Nursing from Villanova University.
He was a proud member of the Critical Care Nurses Association of PA.
Richard selflessly served the Mainline Health Community as a registered nurse at Bryn Mawr and Lankenau Hospital for the past 10 years.
Previously, he lovingly cared for many long term residents of the Regina Nursing Center of Norristown. There Richard dedicated himself for 13 years first as a nursing assistant and later as a registered nurse.
Richard heroically battled for a year and a half, a very rare, very aggressive cancer of his appendix.
Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by his children, Tracey Lynn Matthew and Tobias Joseph Matthew, both of Plymouth Meeting; sisters, Lisa (James) Stoy of Jeffersonville and Linda Wilhelm of Eagleville; a brother, Ronald (Ann) Matthew Jr. of Mullica Hill, NJ; uncle and aunt, Walter and Blanche Matthew of Collegeville; loving cousins, many nieces and nephews.
His funeral Mass will be held Thursday, March 11 at 10:30 a.m. from the Epiphany of Our Lord RC Church, 3050 Walton and Township Line Rds., Plymouth Meeting.
Friends may call Wednesday, March 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, March 11 from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. at the Moore & Snear Funeral Home, 300 Fayette St., Conshohocken.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken.
